Looking for a new way to talk about research in your courses? Research Plus Me can help!
You can integrate R+ME in two ways:
- Incorporating the “Why Participate in a Research Study?” curriculum.
- Engaging students in activities that invite reflection and knowledge-building around research.

Incorporating the “Why Participate in a Research Study?” curriculum.
In this curriculum, your students will discover the impact of participating in a study and learn how to get involved! Learn about ASU researchers, past studies, current studies, and how to get involved as a student.
Learning objectives include:
- Learn about the importance of research participation in society.
- Hear from ASU researchers about their experiences and careers.
- Participate in a research study.
- Identify research opportunities and resources available at ASU.
- Reflect on your experience as a research participant.

Activity 1
Dissecting research
Are your students learning about the components of a research study? Consider creating an online or in-person discussion to enhance their understanding.
You might ask questions such as:
- What research methods did your study employ?
- How did your study approach issues of consent?
Activity 2
Learning through reflection
Are your students soon-to-be researchers? Consider a reflection where they connect their experience as a participant to their role as a researcher.
You might ask questions such as:
- What procedures in the study would you adopt in your work?
- How did participation impact your understanding of your field(s) of interest?

Reviewing study descriptions
Are your students ready to think critically about research design and methods? Consider a “review” where they discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the study’s design.

Searching competition
Create a scavenger hunt activity for students to find a variety of methods, topics, active researchers and more! Put them in teams for a competitive element.
